Basil Communications is a media production company specializing in documentary films and non-fictional content with a strong focus on social impact. Our mission is to use the power of storytelling to inspire change and amplify the voices of marginalized communities. Our journey began in 2017 when we truly honed in on documentaries, telling real stories that inspire change. To date, we’ve produced around 150 films covering themes such as Agriculture, Livestock, Finance, Culture, Gender Equality, Economic Development, Tourism, and Education.

Our diverse portfolio includes collaborations with organizations like the Melinda Gates Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Rajasthan Tourism, British Council, UNICEF, Oxfam, Deutsche Welle, India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Eco India, Good Earth, AIIMS, Incredible India and ChinaDaily amongst others. These partnerships have given us the expertise to visually represent complex issues in a way that resonates with audiences and catalyzes meaningful impact.

Our vision is to create change through the power of film. While we don’t aim to change the entire world overnight, we believe that if our work can positively influence even one person, it’s worth every effort. A prime example is our film for AIIMS, which, by visually representing complex data, contributed to a government decision to allocate a budget for heart and lung transplants for economically disadvantaged individuals. Similarly, our work with Qualcomm and WOTR in Maharashtra demonstrated how AI technology can improve land productivity, helping farmers mitigate the effects of erratic weather patterns and secure alternative income sources.
